Porsche Romania, the largest car importer in Romania, ended 2019 with a total number of 35,332 cars delivered to customers, 7% more than in 2018. Last year, the segment that decisively boosted the evolution of the car market was that of the SUV models.
The SUVs of SEAT – Arona, Ateca and Tarraco – have also contributed to a nearly 48% increase in car deliveries for the brand. Half of the total deliveries of SEAT cars were SUV model.
Volkswagen and Škoda were still the most sought brands in the Porsche Romania portfolio, with total deliveries of 15,155 units, respectively, 13,898 units.
The evolution of the Volkswagen brand was also strongly supported by the demand for SUVs. By the end of the year, the brand had delivered to its customers a total of 6,800 SUV models, 51% more than in 2018. SUVs now account for 45% of the total Volkswagen deliveries in Romania.
And the Škoda brand has completed its range of SUVs, with the start of sales for the Kamiq model. It complements the presence of the brand on this segment, where Kodiaq and Karoq models are still on offer.
Last year, Audi delivered to its customers 1,763 units, with an increase of SUV models. In 2019, the brand entered, with the launch of Q3 Sportback, on a new segment, respectively the one of the small coupe SUVs.
The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand evolved well beyond this market segment, reporting a 12.4% advance in deliveries. The total market for commercial vehicles decreased by about one percent last year.
