According to the Directorate for Driving Licence and Vehicle Registration Regime (DRPCIV) and to the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Romania (ACAROM), the car market increased in March 2021, compared to the same month of the previous year.
This increase can be explained by looking back at the similar month of the previous year, when the activity in the automotive industry had been paralyzed because of the COVID-19 lockdown. In Romania, car registrations increased with +18.14% in March 202, reaching a number of 7.861 units, compared to March 2020.
In spite of this, the number of new car registrations in Romania reached a number of 20.762 units in the first three months of 2021, representing a -25.79% decrease compared to 2020, when there had been 27.979 units.
Regarding second hand cars registered for the first time in Romania, they reached a number of 36.558 units, meaning a +1.41% increase compared to March 2020. There were 101.299 second hand cars registered in Romania during the first quarter of 2021, which represents a -6.27% decrease compared to 2020, when there had been 108.080 registered units.
