According to the Directorate for Driving Licence and Vehicle Registration Regime (DRPCIV), due to the COVID-19 crisis, in the first half of 2020, the number of vehicle registrations in Romania has decreased drastically.
In June 2020, the number of new registered vehicles has reached 10.161 units, a 27,84% decrease compared to the same month of 2019. In the first six month of this year, the number of new registered cars in Romania has reached 49.616 units, decreasing with 30,72% compared to the similar period of 2019.
This is the ranking by brand of new cars in January-June 2020:
1. Dacia 14.572 units (-31,8% compared to January-June 2019)
2. Volkswagen 3.996 units (-22,5%)
3. Skoda 3.877 units (-30,4%)
4. Renault 3.802 units (-38,6%)
5. Hyundai 3.494 units (+3,2%)
The ranking by models is the following: Dacia Logan, Dacia Sandero, Dacia Duster, Renault Clio and Renault Megane.
Regarding second hand cars registered for the first time in Romania, their number has reached 26.552 units in June 2020, a 21% decrease compared to June 2019. In the first six months of 2020, 181.493 units were registered, a 16,6% decrease compared to the similar month of 2019.
